About this car
This car represented the first Type R model that eventually dominated circuits around the world.
In Honda’s lineup, the "Type R" designation signified production models specifically tuned for high performance. The Civic Type R first appeared in August 1997. Based on the sixth-generation EK Civic, it was powered by the B16B 1.6-liter inline-4 DOHC 16-valve engine. Thanks to Honda’s VTEC system, it produced 182.4 HP at 8200 rpm without any forced induction. The model quickly earned a reputation in motorsports, becoming a favorite among amateur racers.
