About this car
The legendary Mazda 787B was the first Japanese-manufactured race car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Mazda’s 787B completed the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans without a single mechanical issue, making history as the first Japanese manufacturer to secure an overall win at the event. Mazda, which had entered Le Mans with rotary engines beginning in 1974, developed the 787 as its final bid for rotary-powered victory, before regulations would turn against such powertrains. Although the effort fell short at the 1990 race, the 787 underwent extensive revisions and emerged as the 787B.
