About this car
Only 6 units of the legendary, and very successful, Shelby Daytona Coupe race car were ever made.
The AC Cobra had already made a name for itself on the racing scene in the 1960s, and its closed-roof variant was the Shelby Cobra Coupe. While the open-bodied Cobra excelled in acceleration and handling, it lagged behind in top speed due to poor aerodynamics. That changed with a coupe body designed by Pete Brock, which dramatically improved the car’s airflow and added more than 18.6 mph to its top speed. With its full potential unlocked, the Cobra Coupe went on to win numerous races over the following two years.
