About this car
Not only a maker of dominant rally cars, the noted French car company also forayed into road machines.
While Alpine earned fame through rallying success with the A110, the 1960s also saw the marque build competitive prototype racers that achieved results on the track. Among them, the A220 stood as Alpine’s strongest contender for overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, making its debut in 1968. Although the car was beset by mechanical issues and failed to deliver the expected result, it remained a fan favorite and a cherished part of Alpine’s legacy.
