About this car
This historic machine achieved a much-desired Le Mans victory with an incredible 1-2-3 finish.
In a bold move to leave its mark on the racing world, Ford partnered with Lola Cars to develop the Mark I, which was completed in 1964. Based on the Lola-designed Mk6, the car was introduced as the Ford GT. The name "GT40" was coined by a reporter, amazed by the car’s height—just 40 inches from the ground. At the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the improved Mark II version achieved a legendary 1-2-3 finish.
